Soxhlet extractors are used to remove oil-based contaminants on drill cuttings samples before processing for vitrinite reflectivity analysis.

Zeiss MPM 03 Photometer - Microscope with a sensitive measuring spot of 2.5µm that allows for high quality vitrinite reflectivity data to be gathered.

Zeiss Axioplan 2 - Capable of transmitted, reflected and UV light analysis. Used for spore colour and kerogen fluorescence studies.

Agilent 7890A (2015) - Gas chromatograph used for measuring gas composition.
Delta V Advantage (2015) - Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS), measuring δ¹³C and δD on gas compounds.
Delta Q (2024) - Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS), measuring δ¹³C and δD on gas compounds.

Rock-Eval 6 (1998) and Hawk (2014) - Used to characterise the organic content in rock samples and run bulk kinetics.

Iatroscan MK6s (2017) - Thin layer Chromatography to quantify bulk fractions of oils and extracts.

Thermal extraction and pyrolysis GC
Agilent 7890B (2015) equipped with a MSSV injector - Gas Chromatograph used to run Thermal Extraction GC and Pyrolysis GC. Used for compositional kinetics analysis.

Agilent 7890A (2007-2009), 3 units - Used to run gas chromatography on whole oil (WO), extract (EOM), saturate (SAT) and aromatic (ARO) fractions.

Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry
DFS (2015 and 2017), 2 units - High resolution magnetic sector mass spectrometers. Used to measure biomarkers in saturate, aromatic and polar fractions.
TSQ 9000 (2019) - Low resolution quadrupole mass spectrometer. Used for GCMS-MS applications, diamondoids and alkylbenzenes.

Isotope analysis
Delta V Advantage (2015) - Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer. Used to run isotope ratios on oils, sediments and fractions.
Delta V Plus (2017) - Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer. Used to run Compound Specific Isotope Analysis (CSIA).
